British American Malaysia exciting opportunity for a Regional Compliance Manager - 1st LoDin Selangor
Manage a team of 1st Line of Defence Compliance Specialists and Analysts responsible for assisting End Markets (BAT Legal Entities), across multiple geographies, with their compliance to BAT’s Standards of Business Conduct, specifically to Anti-Financial Crimes, Policy Management, and Gifts & Entertainment. This would involve providing direction and coaching on monitoring and reporting processes, templates, and tools, as well as ensuring that compliance Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are met or exceeded. Represent the team at various leadership teams forums (such as Governance) and provide training and documentation to End Markets.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Manage a team of between 2 and 4 Compliance Specialists, each with 2 or more Compliance Analysts.
- Support the team in its activities of monitoring, reporting, and remediating by providing guidance on processes, and supporting tools, to End Markets in compliance areas.
- Collaborating with the 2nd Line of Defence team as required.
- Represent 1st Line of Defence at various Area governance forums, presenting compliance KPI performance reports (Dashboards), corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives/proposals.
- Engage directly with key Area (Collection of BAT Legal Entities across multiple countries) and global stakeholders in communicating new developments and in seeking/obtaining their support on continuous improvement and ways of working proposals.
- Collaborate with Internal Audit during audits.
- Collaborate with Finance and Business Controls Team in the development and submission of Immediately Reportable Incidents (Control failures).
What are we looking for?
- Education in Business Administration, Law, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; knowledge of compliance in AML/CTF, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, tax evasion, Policy Management, etc.
- 5-10 years management experience, preferably in a 1st Line of Defence or compliance capacity in governance, risk management, or compliance within highly regulated industries (e.g., banking, insurance, healthcare, or financial services).
- Proficiency in compliance management systems and tools like Risk Assessment Tools and GRC platforms (e.g., CRA SAP GTS, SAP GRC).
- Familiarity with COSO, ISO 31000, or other risk frameworks as well as relevant laws and regulations
- Experience with internal audits, including preparing responses and remediation plans.
- Working in a highly digitised environment – Being Tech savvy.
- Ability to mentor, guide, and train junior compliance officers or risk managers.
- Knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for reporting and trend analysis.
- Expertise in creating strategies to balance business objectives with regulatory compliance.
