British American Tobacco Malaysia has an exciting opportunity for a Regional Compliance Manager in Selangor
Manage a team of 2nd Line of Defence Compliance Specialists & Analysts and accountable for ensuring that compliance risks are effectively managed through robust oversight, independent challenge, and alignment with regulatory requirements. The role bridges the gap between operational compliance activities (1LoD) and assurance functions (3LoD), driving strategic alignment, risk management, and regulatory engagement across the organization. The Compliance Second Line of defence (2LoD) Manager ensures that compliance risks are identified, managed, and mitigated in alignment with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and strategic goal.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead a team of Compliance Specialists and Analysts, overseeing day-to-day compliance activities.
- Establish and maintain compliance procedures, standards, and frameworks to guide risk and compliance efforts.
- Oversee compliance monitoring, testing, incident and breach management, and quality assurance reviews.
- Develop and deliver compliance training programs to mitigate compliance risks across the organization.
- Report to Senior Leadership, providing updates on compliance risks, trends, and mitigation strategies.
- Define and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to monitor compliance exposure and trigger escalation processes.
- Foster collaboration across lines of defense, promoting a strong risk and compliance culture.
- Identify and leverage technology (e.g., Global compliance Apps, CRA, SAP GTS) to enhance compliance processes and stay aligned with industry best practices.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in law, Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 6-10 years of experience in compliance, governance, or risk management within regulated industries such as banking, financial services, insurance, Hitech, healthcare, or manufacturing.
- Expertise in the second line of defense, providing oversight, challenge, and assurance rather than operational risk ownership.
- Experience in independently challenging first line compliance activities, including monitoring controls and adherence to policies.
- Strong understanding of control testing, risk assessments, and compliance monitoring programs.
- In-depth knowledge of global Anti-Financial Crimes regulations (AML/CTF, Tax Evasion, Bribery & Corruption, Sanctions).
- Proven track record in developing, implementing, and maintaining compliance frameworks, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Experience managing compliance professionals in 2LoD roles, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Strong ability to influence executives and present compliance risks and strategic recommendations to leadership.
- Expertise in compliance management systems and governance tools (e.g., CRA, D&B, SAP or similar GRC platforms).
- Preferred certifications include CRCM, CCEP, CFA (for financial services), CIA, or CRMP, with a background in Law, Business Administration, Finance, or Risk Management.
