BAT BANGLADESHIS LOOKING FOR AN A VAT ANALYST

SENIORITY LEVEL: Entry Level

FUNCTION: Finance

LOCATION: Dhaka/Savar, Bangladesh

Reports to: Assistant Manager - VAT  

ROLE POSITIONING & OBJECTIVES

The role is part of the BAT Bangladesh Corporate Finance team and reports to the Assistant Manager – VAT. The primary responsibility of the role includes preparation of VAT Return, Sales Register, Purchase Register, Rebate Register, online return submission and VAT software management and to proactively support the delivery of day-to-day indirect tax related activities. This role’s focus is on working to calculate daily excise payment plan and maintain VAT current account prudently as per the provision of the Act including internal record keeping in existing manner. The role is also required for necessary interaction with the internal stakeholders of the business and Corporate Finance team to maintain overall indirect tax compliance and to achieve the company’s goal.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT:

  1. Indirect Tax (VAT) Compliance:
  • Preparation of related reports and statements as per VAT Act, Rules & Regulations such as VAT-4.3, VAT Return, Purchase registers, Sales registers, Rebate registers, VAT Current Book, VDS certificates and related internal reporting, workings, document archiving, etc.
  • Preparation of VAT rebate related workings and documents to ensure applicable VAT rebates are taken on time as per VAT rules and regulations. 
  • Timely submissions of VAT return both in online, manual and through VAT software ensuring all compliance including VAT rebate, AT adjustment, duty free rebate adjustment and other relevant applicable adjustments.
  • Ensuring VDS activation such as VDS on payments, VDS deposit, issuance of VAT-6.6, etc.
  • Preparation of related statements and workings to meet queries from regional offices i.e SOX, BPC, and any other query on ad-hoc basis.
  • Update of ED module in SAP software, master data updates in VAT software, internal tracking like EMT File, Deposit File, etc.
  • Conduct VAT Litigation, Documentation, Internal Reporting.
  • Assist in ensuring factory-wise VAT compliance, daily excise payment, analytical and reporting responsibility.
  • Collaboratively working with cross functional members to ensure compliant business operation.

  1. Controls and Process Improvements:
  • Ensure existing controls and reconciliation process are followed
  • Engagement for development of manual process to automation like VAT software, online VAT return, e-invoicing etc.

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  1. Managing Team:
  • Extends cooperation to tax and cross functional team members for continuous improvement of deliverables values and results.
  • Ensure appropriate level of knowledge transfer for team members.

  1. Business Partnering:
  • Identify, assess, and where appropriate, implement efficiency improvements.
  • Ensure compliance & business needs through proactive involvement and interaction.
  • Manage the contractual resources and ensure business deliveries on time.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Business graduate with at least 3 years of VAT experience of any MNC/Group of Companies-Manufacturing
  • Expert knowledge in VAT Act/Rules/regulation.
  • Added knowledge and experience in of finance/accounting/SAP/Excel/Audit is required.
  • Possess strong technical and interpersonal skills.
  • Good communications skills with ability to explain and defend issues with respect to key decisions.
  • Ability to establish priorities of key deliverables.
