VAT & Indirect Taxes Analyst

Based in GBS Romania and reporting to the Corporate Finance Manager as part of the New Categories GBS Romania RTR team, the role is required to support accounting and controls surrounding corporate tax and indirect taxes including but not limited to VAT, customs duties and withholding tax to ensure accurate and timely accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, tax payments and other reporting and compliance requirements. This role covers all corporate and indirect tax requirements for all legal entities across New Categories and various VAT registered territories.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Reconcile monthly and quarterly VAT balance sheet accounts to align with VAT returns for the period, ensuring accuracy of reported balances and collaborating with the indirect tax team to correctly charge irrecoverable VAT to the P&L.
• Ensure timely approval and payment of duty down payments for the supply chain hub and UK import duties to freight forwarders, maintaining proper documentation and allocating used down payments to relevant end market cost centers with monthly reconciliation.
• Manage monthly accruals and quarterly intercompany recharges for duty deferment payments; once the New Category establishes its own deferment account, ensure accurate monthly posting of related payments and duty expenses.
• Conduct monthly reviews of corporate and indirect tax general ledger accounts to confirm correct P&L allocations and alignment with appropriate cost centers
• Handle ad-hoc queries from both internal and external stakeholders, and coordinate with auditors and tax agents to support local statutory reporting requirements.

What are we looking for?

• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar finance role, with a relevant degree
• Comfortable working with large sets of data and able to turn complex info into simple, meaningful insights using tools like SAP, BI, and BPC.
• Great at staying focused and resilient when juggling priorities, and always looking for smarter ways to improve processes and reports.
• Confident working independently while building strong relationships across different teams and markets, with a flexible and collaborative approach to partnering with the business.
• Hands-on experience with BPC and SAP is a plus.
