Role Positioning and Objectives
The Utilities Technician has accountability to operate and maintain all services (boiler, vacuum pumps, compressor, generator and water supply) for factory operation and overall site. He / she is responsible to develop preventive maintenance and action plans to eliminate breakdown related losses and maintenance costs in the long term. He / she is also responsible for implementing key IWS initiatives to achieve the overall targets and support the Compelling Business Needs. The Utilities Technician will own the planning and cost of maintenance of the services in charge.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead daily engineering meetings (DDS) and collaborate with module leads, operators, and stakeholders to ensure cohesive and flexible operations.
- Provide end-to-end technical support for utility services, including execution of maintenance plans, R&M activities, and spare parts availability.
- Participate in Daily Management System (DMS) activities, driving continuous improvement through CL/CIL/BDE/DH practices and loss elimination using IWS tools.
- Ensure all maintenance documentation is updated and aligned with technical standards.
- Liaise with OEM suppliers and local vendors for spare part ordering, modifications, and fabrication support.
- Ensure compliance with EHS, QA, and HSE key elements, including Pulsar, Risk Assessments, and Permit-to-Work processes.
- Drive root cause analysis and deliver breakthrough results in process reliability, downtime reduction, and cost efficiency aligned with ESG goals.
- Foster a positive working environment, maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to support continuous improvement initiatives.
What are we looking for?
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of relevant experience in utilities or plant maintenance operations.
- Certificate in Plant Maintenance Engineering or Boiler Operations is an added advantage.
- Adequate knowledge of problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys and 6W2H, along with familiarity with general factory standards like 5S, EHS, and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, and MS Word/PowerPoint for documentation (e.g. OPLs and Work Instructions).
- SAP experience is an added advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrates team leadership, a collaborative mindset, and a strong sense of ownership and urgency in executing tasks.
