The HR Manager Payroll & Services is a member of the HR Leadership Team based in Hamburg and is leading the HR Backoffice Team which is providing payroll services and all other HR administrative services to the functions and employees.  You will drive change Management and establish new ways of working in a service orientated Shared Services environment.



  • Lead the HR Backoffice Team and act as subject matter expert on payroll and act as first point of contact for all HR services relevant matters
  • Drive continuous improvement for HR admin processes in collaboration with BATs HR Shared Service Center in Bucharest
  • Strive for innovative solutions in an international working environment
  • Ensure compliance according to BAT’s international Reward Governance Framework, Company- and Tariff agreements, legal requirements as well as for international compliance standards (SOx).
  • Act as subject matter expert for Payroll and administrative tasks on all key HR activities during the employee life cycle  
  • Consult the HR Leadership Team regarding tax and social security tasks
  • Responsibility for Personnel cost planning as part of BAT ‘s Company planning process
  • Steering and administration of local HR IT Systems


  • University degree in economics or equivalent with a strong background in Payroll
  • Two to three years of experience in an HR managerial role combined with people leadership responsibility
  • High level of interpersonal skills, able to interact with internal/external stakeholders on all levels
  • Resilient, driven by results, able to energize and influence
  • Fluent in German and English, additional Polish or French language skills are a plus
  • Fully mobile
