A fantastic opportunity for a global role as a Talent Development Manager – Digital Portfolio exists within our Talent Development Centre of Expertise in London.

This is an exciting time to join our team of experienced Talent Development Managers, as we support the business on a transformational journey to rapidly ramp up the skills and capabilities of our workforce and expand our digital portfolio.


You will lead the development and execution of the global talent development strategy through innovation that looks to digital transformative learning.


In this role you will work closely with internal stakeholders across BAT to understand their business needs, identify opportunities, and deliver digital learning solutions that are fit for purpose and targeted to the skills and requirements of our changing workforce.


You will communicate and lead a vision for innovative learning technology – demanding a high level of personal drive, agility and accountability to ensure appropriate solutions for 50,000+ employees in over 120 markets.

The role has the potential to expand further, supporting global Talent Projects as needed, and operates in an environment of significant change due to business transformation. This role reports to the Senior Global Talent Development Manager - Operations and Corporate Functions and has global influence.

Key responsibilities:

1.       Delivers the digital fundamentals of the Global L&D agenda, curriculum and activities with core responsibilities being:

·         Work with external networks & subject matter experts, and internally within BAT, to design & develop digital learning solutions

·         Work with internal customers to ensure that technology tools are incorporated into existing learning and development programs

·         Manage digital learning course development project plans from inception to completion

·         Oversee expanded employee usage of current digital learning solutions, and implementation of updated technology versions i.e. / Harvard ManageMentor / ED Microlearning

·         Manage and maintain current LMS content through SuccessFactors

·         Research and apply new innovative ways to help employees develop skills and capability

·         Partner with the extended BAT network (end-markets / regions / global functions) to share best practices and build consistency where appropriate

·         Assist in the selection and coordination of the use of external suppliers for learning and development needs as required


2.       Own and lead the creation and continued modification of the IT Function Talent Development Agenda including identifying Capabilities, Competency Assessments, and developing relevant solutions to close identified capability gaps:

·         Work closely with the IT Function to pinpoint capability needs and developing fit for purpose solutions

·         Support the IT Function in developing relevant Digital Academies to upskill various employee segments on the ongoing digital transformation


3.       Provide tactical guidance for utilizing the tools to enhance learning & development and seek ways to introduce these tools into the total L&D portfolio of offerings

·         In this capacity you will counsel and advise stakeholders on new / emerging capabilities and/or innovative technical solutions pertaining to development


Required Skills and experience:


·         Experience driving development and developing curriculum for an organization that has undergone digital transformation

·         Experience working with a variety of Learning Management Systems and related technologies

·         Strong experience in Learning & Development, Talent Management, or related field

·         Affinity for learning and talent development - previous program design, training experience

·         Vendor management, contract negotiation, setting and measuring appropriate service level agreements and issues resolution

·         Ability to build business partnerships and influence others

·         Critical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to analyze business needs

·         Project Management and organizational skills necessary to drive projects to completion

·         Communication and interpersonal skills needed to work in a collaborative, team environment

·         Strong commercial orientation, and experience of operating in a matrix organization

·         Hands on experience, exposure to different regions, ways of working, cultures
