Job purpose


We are currently recruiting for a Quality Process Manager to join our Quality Assurance Team in Southampton. This role will involve working closely with our internal stakeholders, through various stages of the Quality processes such as Validation, Change Control and Audits.


Main accountabilities


  • Maintain and develop current validation procedures, implementing improvements wherever possible. Taking responsibility for R&D Master Validation Plan
  • Constant review and generation of R&D qualification and validation documentation for these activities
  • Ensure the alignment of validation and change control system
  • Ensure a metrology approach that supports the Validation Master Plan for equipment and instruments
  • Maintain a central database for qualification and validation activities working closely with the users
  • Support users in the application of the validation system, dealing with issues
  • Administer the central validation and change control databases
  • Define and Report metrics for the validation and change control system
  • Support the design and continuous improvement of the validation and change control system
  • Build own knowledge, skills to gain a better understanding of R&D validation into the Quality Management systems in order to develop best practices.
  • Liaise with subject matter experts so that the validation and change control system is optimised to meet the business needs.
  • Carry out internal and external audits.
  • Carry out validation risk assessments and Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Carry out quality investigations and work on Corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) 
  • Manage the direct report for the Calibration and Maintenance system
  • Provide support and / or training on application of the validation and change control system to R&D
  • Responsible for own development through on the job experience and formal training programmes and plans
  • Influence the scientists and product developers in R&D to develop best practice around the work that supports the validation and change control system


Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Experience working with validation and change control systems and metrology approaches systems either in the tobacco environment or research and development environment or other relevant technical based environments
  • Relevant qualifications / experience in document management/business related discipline
  • Logical thinker with practical outlook
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in working across multiple functions/projects is preferred
  • Auditing skills preferred




  • Base salary from £43,200 to £54,000 per year, depending of relevant experience
  • Bonus target 15% of annual base salary
