British American Tobacco Norway has an exciting opportunity for a Key Account Manager in Oslo.

The job holder is a manager within the Norwegian Trade Team. In a rapidly changing retail environment, the account function represents our frontline in understanding and proactively responding to change to gain a competitive advantage.The environment for the Nicotine category is changing due to trade specialisation, concentration of decision-making power and legislative changes. To gain competitive advantage, British American Tobacco needs to constantly highlight the total value of our offer – We act as a business partner and deliver insights and business proposals that stretches beyond tobacco profitability.

The Account Portfolio must be managed in such a way that it will not only efficiently support current initiatives and Business Processes, but also pre-empts future changes and provides optimum flexibility to the organisation to ensure BAT’s trade efficiency and ultimately, its benchmark supplier status.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Devise, implement and maintain an annual plan for your portfolio of accounts in conjunction with the overall Company Trade Plan.
  • Manage assigned Account budgets effectively and deliver the annual business targets as per the agreed KPIs.
  • Recommend and establish engagement strategies and negotiation contact points for accounts under your responsibility.
  • Explore growth opportunities through different initiatives where relevant with key focus on Global Drive Brands and other International Brands (including local hero brands).
  • Focus on the fostering of value creation as an inherent part of the job.
  • Establish strong commercial relationships and ensure that fact-based, persuasive selling is consistently and effectively used to deliver business objectives within accounts.
  • P&L ownership: Ownership over your accounts growth, profitability & financial KPI’s.
  • Continuously monitor the dynamics of your accounts to identify and exploit business opportunities.
  • Take ownership of the communication planning process into your accounts and from your accounts through the business.
  • Ensure that local, regional and global systems are maintained with critical account information. This includes information on the account strategies, structure and decision-making processes as well as sales and off-take information of the category, key own and opposition brands / brand families.
  • Acts as a thought-leader into the category and successfully motivate account staff to communicate brand benefits according to specific occasions.
  • Facilitate the involvement of senior management both on a regional and end-market with the management level of strategic international, regional and local accounts
  • Oversee designated accounts ensuring that a long-term partnership is fostered and preserved.
  • Establish business relationships with key staff within the account to promote BAT performance within account.
  • Help to coach, train, motivate and develop identified successors as well as key talent within the Trade / Key Account teams to maximise potential and to prepare for future career planning.

What are we looking for?

  • Min 3-5 years of experience in Key Account or Category Management within FMCG
  • Marketing knowledge: comprehensive understanding and experience of managing all elements of the marketing mix (above / below the line, price, promotion, shelf space, and product (range), research, and category management).
  • Demonstrated analytical, interpersonal, communication (oral & written), negotiation and planning skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully negotiate, influence and present at Senior Management level.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to think both strategically and conceptually.
  • Business and financial acumen.
  • Ability to analyse problems, recommend solutions and action plans within organisational policy.
  • Strong management, leadership and influencing skills.
  • Written and spoken fluency in Norwegian and English
