Reports to - Senior Director, Population Health and Consumer Behavior

Number of Direct Reports - 4

The Director – Perceptions and Intentions will drive tobacco/nicotine product population-level health research and science through strong leadership and scientific expertise. This role is responsible for leading scientific efforts on tobacco/nicotine product perceptions and integrate these results across relevant behavioral science research such as predicted product use behavior, survey research, and predicted population level health impacts. This position will lead key projects and programs related to behavioral science and population effects to address regulatory priorities and external engagement. This role will participate in and lead cross-functional collaborations and build relationships with internal and external partners. This role will contribute to driving our amplifying harm reduction objectives forward and reduce the health impact of our business.

This position requires strong technical, communication, presentation, and management skills, and specific experience in perceptions and intentions research and FDA behavioural submission narrative. A strong background in epidemiology, public health, and/or social science is highly desired. The individual in this role will maintain high scientific standards and integrity, while adhering to all applicable regulations and procedures.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.S.) in epidemiology, public health, social science, or other relevant scientific discipline
  • 10-15 years relevant scientific experience resulting in a thorough knowledge of concepts, principles, and strategic relevance
  • Experience and demonstration of expertise in perceptions and intentions testing
  • Understanding of the wider impact of perceptions and intentions insights for population health assessment
  • Experience in tobacco/nicotine science and/or relevant regulatory science
  • Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to lead a team of scientists
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage and execute multiple projects
  • Demonstrated capacity to quickly accumulate and apply broad, cross-functional scientific, and business knowledge
  • Experience in quality processes relevant for human subject’s research and data management with a focus in regulatory reporting requirements
  • Excellent organizational, writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to interface with senior level management and other functions within and external to the Company
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills
  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills

  • 401(k) plan that offers opportunity to save on pre- and post-tax basis up to 50 percent of eligible compensation.
    • Company matches 100 percent of employee pre-tax/Roth (401k) contributions up to six percent
