Reports to: Senior Manager Controls Engineering

Number of Direct Reports: NA

Core Relationships: Internal: Manufacturing Staff, Technical Staff, and Manufacturing Personnel External: Contract Engineering Firms, Contract System Integrators

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Will lead or coordinate the work of others and may require working on multiple shifts.
  • This position manages technical related projects of increasing scope to further develop engineering skills, with emphasis on providing technical direction for functional area or specific engineering field of expertise.
  • This position will provide support for the Controls Engineering functions (also known as OT – Operations Technology) within the manufacturing processes. As such, knowledge, and support of the end-to-end systems from machine controls through SCADA and interfaces to upper-level systems such as MES and SAP are part of the everyday routine.
  • Equipment design, development, and layout including test of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation.
  • Assist in refining Marketing/R&D concepts and utilize standard engineering techniques to develop manufacturing solutions that will translate these concepts into reality, including creating technical drawings of solutions, and partnering with external equipment vendors and engineering service providers to develop new process solutions.
  • Identify and develop expertise in new technologies across industry that can be utilized internally for development of innovative processes to deliver new products or packaging to the marketplace.
  • Lead project management activities with clearly specified objectives, including concept development, feasibility analysis, scope definition, cost estimating, specification and drawing development, business risk evaluation, vendor evaluation, resource allocation, development of manufacturing options, scheduling, and installation.
  • Develop and manage capital and expense budgets to meet project objectives.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Engineer III: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Licensure as a Professional Engineer: - Engineering Technologist III: Associate Degree in Engineering or related field with 1+ years of progressive experience or 4+ years of relevant progressive work experience in a technical field.
  • Limited proficiency knowledge of PLC’s, SCADA, HMIs, and related equipment.
  • Awareness of Industrial Networks and Industry 4.0 concepts.
  • Strong analytical, decision making and problem-solving skills with an ability to recommend continuous improvements.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation, personal leadership, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability and commitment to drive change and improvements.
  • Strong desire to learn, understand and apply technologies.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

BENEFICIAL

  • Previous manufacturing and/or industrial engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases, data collection systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems, and SAP.
