REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for a Production Engineer SMD in Winston Salem, NC

The Production Engineer is responsible for leading the technical aspects of production, addressing plant-level quality losses, and driving waste reduction initiatives. This role supports New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives by evaluating technical risks and ensuring effective solutions are implemented and reapplied across the manufacturing facility.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Identify and resolve plant-level quality issues related to machinery, equipment, and production processes in collaboration with subject matter experts and production management.
  • Provide technical risk assessments for new product introductions and material changes, focusing on implications for machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate technical aspects of trials for new products or material changes, ensuring comprehensive evaluation of machinery and equipment performance.
  • Identify and implement strategies to minimize waste and improve material utilization throughout the production process.
  • Analyze waste data, develop action plans to reduce waste, and collaborate with production teams to apply waste reduction practices effectively.
  • Conduct technical risk assessments related to machinery and equipment to ensure compliance with safety laws.
  • Maintain detailed records of technical assessments, trial results, waste reduction initiatives, and implemented solutions.
  • Supervise the efficiency of implemented solutions and waste reduction initiatives, seeking opportunities for further improvement.

What are we looking for?

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Validated experience in leading technical challenges, optimizing machinery, and implementing waste reduction strategies within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on technical solutions and waste minimization.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multi-functional teams and knowledge of safety standards and regulations related to manufacturing equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Self-motivated, highly engaged, flexible, and receptive to change.
  • 2 years’ work experience in supervisory position in manufacturing plant (Beneficial)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills (Beneficial)

  • 401(k) plan that offers opportunity to save on pre- and post-tax basis up to 50 percent of eligible compensation.
