British American TobaccoColombia has an exciting opportunity for an Area Manager in Medellin
This role is responsible for driving performance across assigned territories through strategic planning, field supervision, and data-driven decision-making. You’ll oversee sales targets, audit processes, and ensure alignment with brand and market strategies. A key part of the role involves fostering strong client relationships and cultivating a high-performing, motivated sales team.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring an efficient, effective, sustainable, and profitable operation in the assigned territories.
- Developing a monthly work plan that includes market accompaniment for each territory, conducting both direct and indirect supervision (80% fieldwork and 20% administrative tasks).
- Generating and tracking daily reports on performance indicators.
- Setting, distributing, and evaluating the monthly objectives for each sales representative according to their territory, and being responsible for verifying and reporting the variable compensation results for your territory each month.
- Conducting monthly audits of commercial management, goods, assets, and inventories in accordance with established guidelines.
- Maintaining a proper flow of information to the Brands and Commercial teams regarding customer, consumer, competitor, and market activities observed during market visits, as well as proposing activities and plans that contribute to the growth of strategic brands.
- Leading your sales team in a healthy, motivating, challenging, and fair environment that fosters a strong sense of belonging and commitment to the company, modelling BAT’s core behaviours.
- Building and maintaining strong commercial relationships with key clients in each territory within your area.
What are we looking for?
- 3 to 4 years of experience in Trade Marketing, Sales, or Brand roles within FMCG companies.
- Experience managing direct reports (not necessarily sales teams).
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, influence, and leadership skills.
- A valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving experience.
- Minimum required English level: Intermediate (B1).
- A degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related fields.
- Experience managing unionized sales personnel is considered a plus.
