British American Tobacco UK has an exciting opportunity for a Production Planning Manager in Southampton
What are the key objectives and expectations from this role?
Ensure the accurate scheduling and forecasting of services provided by IDC to the business by delivering efficient, effective, and flexible solutions to meet production & other service requirements.
Provide support to the IDC, and other R&D partners, at all stages of the Product Development Life-cycle, working with key partners in the development and implementation of innovative, cross-category supply chain solutions.
What is the direct impact of this role on the team or organization?
Ensures that services provided by the IDC are fully planned, scheduled & resources optimized to achieve full OTIF at minimum possible lead time.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Understand demand and translates forecast, Work Contracts & Lyra requests into Production Planning requirements.
- Leads daily planning activities and liaises with essential team members for release of finished goods.
- Provides relevant data; support daily and weekly workload prioritization activities, as required.
- Ensure that professional and consistent planning processes are applied across the IDC.
- Identify, highlight, and explain exception to planning assumptions in weekly meetings e.g. changes to Work Contracts.
- Liaise with partners on Work Contract change requests and review and communicate the impact on material planning, schedules, and progress of production.
- Take ownership of planning issues that arise, including over or under delivery and take any follow-up actions especially in the event of shortages or quality issues that affect production (both internal & external partners/suppliers).
- Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions; handle inventory risk and ensure that contingency plans are in place.
What are we looking for?
- Relevant experience of working in a complex production planning role with multiple partners & challenges
- Focused and capable of delivering continuous process improvement.
- Effective communicator - able to engage optimally at all levels, with a flexible communication style which can be adapted to suit the audience.
- Problem-solver - tenacious and will use creativity, innovation, and an analytical approach to exhaust all options until a satisfactory solution is found.
- Significant - confident in making difficult decisions, balancing the analysis of data with personal judgement, and considering the wider business ramifications and commercial context.
- Creative, flexible, receptive to change, focused and able to deliver.
- Diplomatic and experienced in conflict resolution to resolve conflicting priorities from different partner groups.
- Degree qualified or equivalent. Professional qualifications would be an advantage.
