ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
Reports to: Director Commercial Finance - Spend Optimization & Analytics
No Direct Reports
Core Relationships:
Internal – Revenue Growth Management, Consumer Marketing, Consumer Experience, Commercial Finance, Category/Brand Teams, Trade Marketing, Digital Business Services/IDT and Central Commercial Finance teams based out of the UK and/or other Business Units, Procurement
External – 3rd parties / Marketing Spend Management & Optimization Agencies

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
- Drive Marketing Spend Planning, Data Gathering and Quality Assurance for deployment of Marketing Spend Effectiveness (MSE) Tool
- Facilitate data sourcing with budget holders to ensure accurate and timely inputs for Marketing Spend Effectiveness Planning.
- Set up new data sources, including new platforms and marketing touchpoints related data, where required.
- Map marketing spend to relevant touchpoints to track effectiveness and identify efficiency opportunities.
- Reconcile spend on a weekly basis to maintain accurate records. Identify and address gaps and anomalies in the data.
- Conduct initial data quality control with budget holders to ensure data relevance and comparability. Perform final quality assurance checks on both input and output data.
- Harmonize pricing, volume, and value data to ensure consistency across reports.
- Work closely with budget holders and other stakeholders to gather necessary data and ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Lead Insights generation, and coordinate data screening, and modelling support to deploy spend optimization strategies
- Develop and maintain sales, spend, touchpoints, attribution, and other data models to support marketing spend analysis.
- Use these models to generate actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
- Conduct initial screening of data to identify key insights and trends.
- Present preliminary findings to relevant stakeholders for further analysis. Seek feedback and incorporate learnings into future models to improve the effectiveness of spend optimization strategies.
- Coordinate with various teams to ensure data collection processes are efficient and effective.
- Facilitate communication between departments to support data-driven decision-making for spend optimization and effectiveness. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of insights.
- Collaborate with various teams to integrate data insights into strategic planning.
- Ensure Key Performance Indicator Tracking, Capability development including MSE Tool Design, Embed, and Maintenance
- Set up and maintain tracking systems for key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure KPIs are regularly monitored and reported to relevant stakeholders. Facilitate KPI access across relevant stakeholders.
- Test and provide input for the continuous evolution of MSE practices. Support the Leadership team with ad-hoc MSE analysis.
- Provide data and insights to inform strategic decisions. Test and run various scenarios outside of regular refresh cycles for the MSE tool. Analyse the impact of different strategies to optimize marketing spend.
- Track the execution of MSE outcomes and ensure knowledge sharing across the organization.
- Generate, Enrich and Embed Business Insights related to Marketing Spend Effectiveness
- Ensure that data modelling efforts are directly aligned with key business questions and objectives.
- Complement data inputs with internal drivers such as promotions, new product introductions (NPIs), and pricing strategies.
- Integrate external drivers, including macroeconomic factors and competitor activities, into data models.
- Lead the preparation of comprehensive insight packs and presentations for stakeholders.
- Translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations. Drive in-depth MSE analysis to answer key business questions. Generate insights from campaign tracking, including both commercial and brand-building activities.
- Enhance MSE insights by integrating data from other sources such as Revenue Growth Management, External and Internal Product / Marketing Research, learning from other Markets that have deployed MSE tool within the Group.
CAN THIS BE YOUR FUTURE ROLE?
- Do you have finance, analytics, optimization experience with Commercial/Strategic Finance or Marketing Spend Strategies?
- Have you worked in a fast-paced environment that requires flexibility and time management of multiple deadlines?
- Are you familiar with PowerBI, MicroStrategy and/or other data analysis tools
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Five or more years of experience in Finance, Commercial Finance, Commercial Planning & Insights.
- Bachelor’s degree required typically in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
- Advanced Excel skills and Data Modeling Skills.
- Proven experience in data modelling, operational planning, MSE analysis and insights generation.
- Proven experience in data collection, quality assurance, sales data modeling, KPI tracking and scenario analysis.
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data and provide meaningful insights.
- Experience with tools and methodologies for spend analysis and analytics.
- Ability to drive executional excellence in Spend Planning and Insights generation area to optimize marketing spend.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with budget holders and cross-functional teams.
BENEFICIAL
- Proficient with Power BI, MicroStrategy.
- BPC/SAP knowledge preferred.
- Advanced Degrees: An MBA or Master’s Degree in relevant field can be advantageous.
