British American Tobacco Romania an exciting opportunity for a Treasury AI Specialist in Bucharest, Romania
As part of the Global Treasury Operations Team, the Treasury AI Specialist designs, develops, implements, and governs AI-enabled capabilities that enhance cash, liquidity, funding, FX, risk, and working capital operations.
This role bridges treasury domain expertise with data science, machine learning (ML) engineering, and control frameworks to deliver secure, explainable, reliable, scalable and compliant automation that improves decision quality, speed, and cost-of-operations across the global treasury function.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support with identification, design, development, and implementation of AI models and automation solutions across Group Treasury
- Contribute innovative ideas for improving processes and automation using AI tools.
- Assist in the development, running and monitoring of AI / machine learning models for cash flow forecasting and other relevant treasury activities.
- Extraction, preparation and cleaning of treasury data for AI/ML models.
- Help coordinate testing and updates of automation solutions..
- Document AI enhanced processes, report KPI’s, track model performance, and maintain clear audit trails for AI-related activities.
- Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver on time.
- Collaboration with Treasury Operations, Commercial Treasury, Corporate Treasury and IT teams to ensure successful delivery of developments.
What are we looking for?
- Basic knowledge of general AI, machine learning, or data science concepts.
- Basic understanding of finance concepts and/or treasury processes would be helpful (cash management, payments, FX).
- Familiarity with data concepts (data extraction, preparation, modeling, etc)
- Basic to mid-level proficiency in using a general‑purpose programming language – Ideally Python (with basic data science and ML libraries) and/or SQL.
- Some previous exposure to Microsoft Co-Pilot, Fabric, Power Apps (Power Automate, Power BI), or SAP ERP would be useful
- Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and curiosity and willingness to learn AI and treasury concepts.
- 0–2 years in finance, data analytics, or technology.
