British American Tobacco Sri Lankahas an exciting opportunity for a Leaf Quality Executivein Kandy, Sri Lanka
To support the effective deployment, governance and continuous improvement of Leaf Quality requirements, GLCA Leaf Quality controls, LSM compliance, laboratory/inspection standards, quality data integrity, product traceability and customer-focused quality performance across leaf operations. The role ensures that quality activities are executed independently, accurately and on time, with clear escalation of deviations and disciplined closure of corrective actions.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Maintain adherence to GLCA Leaf Quality controls, quality governance requirements, audit readiness standards, and Q Pillar expectations while ensuring alignment with EHS and regulatory requirements.
- Manage laboratory and quality testing activities, including sampling, inspection, analytical testing, equipment calibration, and maintenance of ISO 17025 laboratory standards.
- Guarantee the accuracy of data integrity through detailed reporting, document oversight, record keeping, specification supervision, and proper application of quality systems and reporting tools. Ensure quality testing data is collected, checked, examined, and shared via approved local/global platforms such as GQUIS, LQS/Data Plus, and managed SharePoint files.
- Lead the investigation and resolution of quality incidents, non-conformances, out-of-specification results, customer complaints, and audit findings through effective RCA and CAPA implementation.
- Maintain training records and support proficiency checks related to quality procedures, GLCA controls and operational standards. Identify improvement opportunities, standardize practices and support quality loss reduction, efficiency and governance improvement projects. Adhere to all applicable EHS, P&HM and P&IT guidelines and support compliance expectations with a zero-incident outlook.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Applied Science, Chemistry, Physics, or any related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in quality management, laboratory operations, or an analytical testing environment.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory analytical techniques, including Gas Chromatography (GC), quality systems, and laboratory compliance standards.
- Strong familiarity with quality management systems, ISO regulations, data examination, root cause evaluation, and ongoing improvement techniques.
- Strong collaborator management, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
