British American Tobacco Jamaica has an exciting opportunity for a [External / Internal job title] in Kingston.
The Sustainability Coordinator is responsible for supporting Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and sustainability initiatives across company locations, ensuring regulatory compliance, workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement. This role coordinates audits, training, reporting, risk management, and ESG programs while promoting a safe and sustainable work environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate the implementation and continuous improvement of EH&S policies, standards, and sustainability programs across all company locations.
- Monitor compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations, permits, and internal company requirements.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and job safety analyses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and tracked to closure.
- Maintain EH&S documentation, including incidents, training records, inspections, audits, permits, and compliance reports.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and preventive action plans to improve workplace safety performance.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including drills, fire safety systems, emergency equipment inspections, and evacuation readiness.
- Track, analyze, and report environmental and sustainability metrics, including energy, water, waste, emissions, and ESG-related KPIs.
- Deliver EH&S training, contractor compliance programs, employee awareness initiatives, and sustainability engagement activities.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Facilities Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in EH&S, sustainability, compliance, risk management, or a related operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations, environmental compliance requirements, and occupational health and safety practices.
- Experience conducting risk assessments, inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective action tracking.
- Knowledge of environmental management, hazardous materials handling, waste management, emergency preparedness, and contractor safety.
- Experience supporting sustainability initiatives and reporting environmental performance metrics and ESG indicators.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, organizational, and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
