British American Tobacco Indonesia has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Scientist Manager in Malang!
In this role, you will lead the execution of Advanced Analytics to deliver Malang/ Indonesia specific robust routine analytical methods to support BAT’s New Categories as part of the Analytical Centre of Excellence. The candidate will be accountable in the development of methods, tools, knowledge and data in analytical sciences across all BAT categories.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- The role involves applying expert knowledge of standard analytical assessments to plan, deliver, and report in the Analytical team. This is done according to an agreed plan, equipment, and methodologies.
- To input into the technical application of the analytics group by developing, delivering, and ensuring fit-for-purpose analytical testing capabilities and defined requirements. This supports Quality Growth for product innovation and PLM, as well as a Balanced Future through THR sciences and regulatory engagement.
- Expert proficiency in designing analytical methods (e.g., carbonyls, TSNAs), validation (including ISO 17025), and their routine implementation, aligned with laboratory quality management systems and key business processes
- Initiator or lead representative in interactions with cross-functional teams and internal and 3rd party external technical stakeholders
- Ensure that data generated are timely, fit for purpose and meeting the appropriate quality requirements (data standards, RDRT) and business needs, harnessing approaches aligned to the digital transformation roadmap
- Maintain clear ways of working and adherence to key processes, providing clear technical leadership, maintaining a high performing team with continuous improvement attitude
- Author and deliver R&S reports, company-wide and public-facing publications and presentations.
- Understands, promotes and applies responsibilities under the EH&S policy
- Application of project management and planning
- Monitor the competitor landscape in the field of analytical science
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field (Applied Science, Biotech, Food Science Technology etc), with 5+ years experience in analytical science or a similar laboratory environment.
- Strong hands-on expertise with GC-FID, HPLC, and LC-MS/MS, including operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and data interpretation.
- Experience operating, calibrating, and maintaining aerosol robots and smoking engines.
- Expert on analytical method development, validation, and deployment within ISO 17025-accredited and/or GxP-compliant laboratories.
- Proficiency in using informatics tools and LIMS systems to process analytical data, maintain traceability, and ensure data quality.
- Demonstrated experience leading routine analytical testing, data interpretation, reporting, and quality management processes.
- Strong people and team management and English literacy skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports, scientific publications, presentations, and collaborate across internal and external teams.
- Strong ability to drive project delivery, provide technical coaching, support continuous improvement initiatives, and work effectively in cross-functional environments.
