British American Tobacco United Kingdom has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Business Controls Manager - GBS & Pulse in London.
This role is responsible for supporting the Head of Business Controls, BCT Controller – Finance and the BAT GBS Partner management and E2E process teams in ensuring that the process and control activities outsourced to the BPOs continue to be executed in a timely, robust way – including ensuring high control effectiveness and SOx compliance.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading business controls for Project Pulse, ensuring SOx and risk integration end-to-end.
- Acting as central point for controls and compliance across GBS, SOx, and process teams.
- Leading risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across financial and operational areas.
- Ensuring effective, scalable internal controls aligned with SOx and regulatory requirements.
- Partnering with Accenture and GBS Compliance on controls, issues, and improvements.
- Overseeing assurance and audit activities across the outsourced GBS environment.
- Driving control issue remediation, including root cause analysis and resolution.
- Leading controls design and optimization, including automation and standardization.
- Delivering clear reporting and communication to management and key stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
- Degree educated; pursuing or holding a relevant qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIA, CISA) with 5+ years’ experience.
- Strong experience in financial processes and internal controls, ideally from Big Four or multinational environments.
- Experience working in a SOx / SEC-regulated environment.
- Strong knowledge of GBS processes and transactional finance controls.
- Solid understanding of internal control frameworks (SOx, PCAOB, UK/US requirements).
- Experience in controls assurance, including design and operating effectiveness testing.
- Good knowledge of IFRS and group reporting processes.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience working with third-party providers and external auditors; exposure to outsourced SSC environments is a plus.
