Sustainability Manager

Serving as the Sustainability Manager for the South Pacific region, including Australia and New Zealand, you will develop our sustainability strategy across varied markets. You will contribute to meaningful environmental, social, and governance (ESG) outcomes that invent lasting value for our business, employees, communities, and interested parties.

In collaboration with the Head of Sustainability and cross-functional teams, you will lead the coordination and delivery of sustainability initiatives. You will handle local outreach, participant engagement activities, and sustainability reporting requirements. You will serve as a trusted partner to market teams, helping translate strategic priorities into tangible actions that deliver measurable results.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Support the development and execution of annual sustainability strategies and operational plans across the designated markets.
• Coordinate and supervise the implementation of environmental and social responsibility initiatives, ensuring alignment with BAT's sustainability framework and business objectives.
• Handle and lead all aspects of community investment programs, including project governance, due diligence reviews, compliance monitoring, and impact assessment activities.
• Prepare and coordinate obligations related to sustainability reporting, including quarterly updates, annual surveys, impact reports, and climate-related disclosures.
• Develop materials for promoting sustainability, presentations, and communication content to support internal and external collaborator engagement.
• Lead sustainability-focused internal communication campaigns and workforce participation efforts in partnership with Business Communications teams.
• Facilitate collaboration and guideline sharing across end markets, regional sustainability teams, BAT Centres of Excellence, and parties outside the company.
• Coordinate sustainability-related events, volunteerism programs, and third-party agency activities while maintaining effective partner relationships.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Business, Social Impact, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 - 7 years of proven background in sustainability, ESG, corporate affairs, communications, community investment, or corporate responsibility within a multinational or FMCG environment.
• Demonstrated experience implementing sustainability strategies, programs, and action plans across multiple markets or collaborator groups.
• Proven track record in leading community investment initiatives, including governance, compliance processes, impact measurement, and reporting.
• Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills, combined with the capacity to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience developing and delivering internal communications campaigns, employee engagement initiatives, and sustainability advocacy materials.
• Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks, ESG reporting, climate-related disclosures, and partner engagement practices is highly advantageous.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and partner leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures, and external partners.
