British American Tobacco Costa Rica has an exciting opportunity for a Fixed Assets Analystin Heredia
As a CAPEX Analyst, you will support the end-to-end management of capital expenditure processes, ensuring accurate tracking, capitalization, and reporting of investments across markets. You will be responsible for maintaining data integrity, executing monthly closings, and supporting project governance and budget control activities. The role requires close collaboration with Finance, Engineering, and Procurement to ensure compliance with IFRS, SOx, and BAT accounting policies. Strong analytical skills, SAP expertise, and fluency in Portuguese (B2) and English (B2) are essential to guarantee accuracy and efficiency in a dynamic, multicultural environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
FIXED ASSETS MANAGEMENT
- Asset Accounting & Integrity: Execute and monitor asset transactions including additions, disposals, transfers, and retirements in SAP. Reconcile balances across ledgers ensuring consistency and compliance with IFRS and local GAAP.
- Depreciation & Capitalization: Run and validate monthly depreciation processes. Ensure correct capitalization of projects following accounting policies, capitalization thresholds, and control requirements.
- Asset Verification & Reporting: Support periodic asset verification exercises and ensure proper reconciliation between physical and accounting records. Prepare regular reports on asset status and movements.
- Policy & Compliance: Apply BAT Global Accounting Policies (GMAPP), SOx controls, and internal audit standards to all asset-related activities. Maintain complete documentation to support audit and control testing.
- Investment Tracking & Analysis: Track ongoing capital projects (AUC) and ensure timely capitalization upon completion. Analyze deviations between approved budgets and actual spend, highlighting key insights.
- Forecasting & Planning: Assist in monthly and annual CAPEX forecasting, coordinating with Project Owners and Finance Business Partners to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Project Governance: Maintain up-to-date documentation and approval flows for investment proposals. Ensure data accuracy in SAP, CFIN, and BPC, escalating issues to the Team Lead when necessary.
- Reporting & Transparency: Prepare CAPEX and Fixed Assets reports, dashboards, and reconciliations to provide clear visibility to management and finance stakeholders.
What are we looking for?
Essential Requirements
- Education required Accounting or Accounting & Finance (Either one with professional qualification preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in Fixed Assets accounting and/or R2R processes.
- Detail oriented, analytical, proactive, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- English – at least B2
- Portugues – at least B2.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)..
Communication skills
- Communicate with peers, managers, and stakeholders effectively.
- Escalate issues and provide possible solutions to your line manager.
- Able to listen and empathize with the audience.
- Communicates fluently and clearly with stakeholders.
Technical skills
- Medium/Advanced knowledge in transactional platforms (ERP, SAP).
- MS Office 365 – Medium/Advanced level.
- Power BI – Desired.
