REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist Toxicology in Winston-Salem, NC.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Support the development and refinement of tobacco and nicotine product toxicological risk assessments by conducting and reviewing toxicological evaluations of new ingredient, technologies and materials.
- Conduct toxicology evaluations to support the development of product stewardship packages for our US related products and processes encompassing the assessment of ingredients, materials and manufacturing practices.
- Support the implementation of defined program areas or tools to harmonize approaches between categories and streamline the assessment of different ingredients, contributing scientific insights that help shape evaluation methodologies and inform broader toxicological strategies.
- Collaborate with the Global Toxicology team building effective working relationships and maintaining them to ensure partnership across common processes and technical knowledge exchange.
- Liaise between US-based Toxicology and US-based Life Sciences providing toxicological context and promoting collaboration at all stages of the product stewardship process providing input for science requirements.
- Liaise between US-based Toxicology and Submissions teams as SME providing scientific input and narrative drafting for toxicology portions of submissions (PMTAs, MRTPAs, Deficiency Responses, etc.)
- Maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across diverse disciplines and contexts (e.g., Global Life Sciences, Law and External Affairs, Product Development, Consumer Marketing, Product Services, Manufacturing Operations)
- Assist in product and process-related regulatory activities by contributing toxicological evaluations and documentation, supporting the preparation of regulatory submissions and ensuring alignment with internal scientific standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
What are we looking for?
- BS in Chemistry, Biology, Toxicology or related discipline with 3-5 years of relevant work experience conducting human safety assessments of consumer products (e.g. tobacco/nicotine, food, cosmetic, household products), medical devices, pharmaceuticals or chemicals OR a MSc/PhD in Toxicology, Pharmacology or related discipline with 1-2 years of industry experience conducting human safety assessments of consumer products (e.g. tobacco/nicotine, food, cosmetic, household products), medical devices, pharmaceuticals or chemicals.
- DABT certification preferred.
- Strong business and/or technical writing skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated capacity to quickly accumulate and apply broad, cross-functional business knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to manage and execute multiple projects often under heightened time constraints
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
