British American Tobacco Italy is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team at our factory in Trieste. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic environment.
The Project Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, and delivery of capital expenditure (CAPEX) projects at factory and departmental level, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with Italian legislation, BAT standards, GMP, EHS, and Quality requirements.
The role supports business continuity, capacity expansion, process optimization, cost efficiency, and sustainability objectives by delivering high‑quality engineering solutions
Responsibilities:
- Plan, develop, and execute CAPEX projects at factory/department level, from concept through commissioning and handover.
- Manage the end-to-end project lifecycle, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, resource planning, execution, and close-out.
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with approved scope, budget, and timeline, while complying with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage CAPEX budgets, ensuring effective cost control, accurate forecasting, and optimal allocation of financial resources in collaboration with Finance.
- Lead and coordinate project execution activities, including the management of contractors, suppliers, and engineering service providers.
- Review and approve technical documentation, including specifications, URS, design documents, and installation and commissioning plans.
- Identify and proactively manage project risks (technical, financial, schedule, and compliance), implementing effective mitigation actions.
- Collaborate with internal and regional stakeholders, ensuring alignment, effective communication, and the application of best practices.
Key Requirements:
- Strong engineering background in industrial/manufacturing environments.
- Solid technical knowledge of industrial process equipment, including mechanical and electrical systems at project level.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, such as technical drawings, layouts, and P&IDs.
- Proven experience in CAPEX project management, including project controls, commissioning, and qualification (considered an advantage).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, with knowledge of IM pillar and CQV considered a plus.
