Your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead agronomy and sustainability strategy, driving best practices to ensure high-quality tobacco production at optimal cost.
- Oversee compliance with Sustainable Tobacco Production (STP) standards, conduct risk assessments, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Identify and adopt new agronomic technologies and sustainable farming methods through collaboration with R&D institutions and universities.
- Build and lead a high-performing agronomy and sustainability team, conduct skill gap analyses, and deliver targeted training programs.
- Establish strong relationships with growers, government bodies, NGOs, and internal teams to support uninterrupted operations and drive social responsibility initiatives.
- Track and report sustainability metrics to local, regional, and global stakeholders, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement
What are we looking for?
- A degree with a minimum 5 years of experience in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Agriculture or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge and/or experience in agricultural extension, crop production, processing, blending, and the financial and trade aspects of domestic and international tobacco markets.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage large, geographically dispersed teams, including those operating in remote or isolated locations.Strong proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage, influence, and manage diverse stakeholders involved in leaf operations.A passion for data analytics and turning insights into impactful actions.
- Capacity to anticipate challenges, analyze market trends, and develop strategic solutions to complex operational issues.
- Ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing teams while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure and within tight timeframes.
