REYNOLDS AMERICAN has an exciting opportunity for a Master Scientist, Vapor Deploy in Winston-Salem, NC.

The Master Scientist of Vapor Deploy is a senior level role within the Scientific Research and Development Function.  This role is accountable for leading US Vapor projects from development to commercialization and supporting current in-market vapor products while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Serve as Deploy lead for assigned US Vapor projects through the stages of new product development, new product introduction, or in-market support initiatives, with accountability for directing all ‘product’ outputs into the corresponding US processes (i.e. specification systems, submissions preparations, and timing/budget tracking) with a commitment to internal and external compliance
  • Strong cross-functional network across global and domestic Vapor stakeholders; necessary to maintain alignment and enable (or raise, as appropriate) product or project decisions, while clearly articulating US requirements and rationale into the project teams
  • SME-level (or SME-potential) product technical expertise in Vapor; including theory of operation, designs and materials, “functionality” (i.e. user interface, power control, battery management), test methods, competitive landscape, and the BAT US Vapor portfolio
  • Independently represent Vapor SR&D on cross-functional projects or initiatives; providing direction on product-related matters, advising project risks or options, and consulting/including SR&D colleagues (horizontally or vertically) as needed
  • Guide and/or coordinate the work of external resources through third party contracts

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or relevant technical field of study; plus a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a heavily-regulated industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated collaboration and peer-leadership skills with ability to work and make decisions independently
  • Data-driven mindset with thoroughness in applying scientific and engineering principles
  • Understanding of statistical methods for data analysis, measurement system analysis, or statistical process control
  • Preferred knowledge of Lithium-ion batteries (selection, testing and QC) as well as connected products (i.e. Bluetooth) or other advanced UI/UX
