British American TobaccoNew Zealand has an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Finance Manager in Auckland, New Zealand
This role has responsibility for financial and commercial inputs to the New Zealand business; it is a critical Finance business partner for providing Marketing Finance (commercial) advice and support, inputs and insights to both the NZ business and to the Asia Pacific Middle East and Africa South (APMEA South) DRBU (Direct Reporting Business Unit) Finance team. It will also assist with cover within the wider Finance structure, as and when required. The Commercial Finance Manager clearly understands the commercial terms of trade relationships and supporting the business in the process of decision-making. The Commercial Finance Manager will also be key to ensuring a sound control environment to address business risks and business partner with key collaborators to ensure delivering of commercial deliverables.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- A key member of finance team, to be involved in matters related to commercial finance for example (non-exhaustive list) rebates, business cases, forecast, budgets, annual plans, actuals reporting, credit management, end to end process of OTC (order to cash) etc. To contribute with finance and business expertise for smart decision-making and achievement of the company overall objectives
- To ensure existence of a strong control environment within commercial finance by advising on compliance to policies and procedures, sharing guidelines and ensure ongoing spot checks on control environment matters
- Identify, assess and, where appropriate, implement efficiency improvements
- Ensure business needs and relationships are fulfilled and enhanced through proactive involvement and interaction
- Assist with cover within the wider Finance structure and any ad hoc tasks, as and when required.
- Facilitate relationships across the Marketing Deployment and Sales functions, the DRBU, BATEX and NVT, shared services and other BAT functions, as applicable.
- Build effective partnerships (internally and externally) to support delivery of core activities and to ensure strategic requirements are delivered.

What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and CA, CPA, ACCA or CIMA certification.
- 6 years plus experience
- Proven understanding of marketing principles and strategy
- Understanding of marketing and finance systems (BPC/SAP)
- Understanding of distribution and logistics
- Experience in the Company planning process
- Teammate who collaborates and coordinates effectively within the DRBU, with partners at varying levels in the organizational hierarchy
- Analytical, organizational and self-management skills with an ability to contribute to change in a dynamic environment
- Ability to work under pressure and reach tight deadlines
- Knowledgeable in identifying risks and in implementing controls
- Proactive, persuasive, creative and prepared to challenge existing ideas from own level in the organization
- Good understanding of other functions
- Possess excellent communication skills
- Strong people management skills
