British American Tobacco Romania has an exciting opportunity for a P2P Data Steward in Bucharest.

This role of P2P Data Steward is a relevant role in ensuring Data Governance is followed and adhered to, reporting directly to Data Governance Lead. The incumbent is encouraged to be self-starter and objective driven, possesses very good communication skills to engage with collaborators at different seniority levels.

P2P processes and data requirements awareness and understanding are core to the success of anyone taking this role. You are encouraged to provide thought leadership and objective evaluation of impacts on data in relation to any proposed process changes. You are a driver of the data governance processes for the P2P Data objects ensuring data standards and rules are met and followed.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Define and implement data standards by translating business needs into clear, multi-functional data requirements using the Data Steward process framework and maintain governance infrastructure including repositories, team resources, and critical issue processes, while supervising compliance and resolving standardization issues.
  • Coordinate multi-functional solutions involving domain authorities, legal, finance, and other collaborators to address sophisticated data requirements and act as the key intermediary between business functions, IT, standards governance bodies, SMEs, and the MDM organization to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Consult and revise business/project documentation to verify consistency to data standards and identify new or modified standards as needed and ensure project involvement to support data standards alignment, promote governance usage, and supply to build decisions impacting master data.
  • Ensure data quality and compliance by providing business rules, validating data in BAU MDM processes, and supervising alignment to global standards.
  • Engage and educate partners across all levels to promote the value of master data governance and ensure understanding of compliance requirements.

What are we looking for?

  • Extensive systems experience: Minimum 5 years working with relevant systems (e.g., SAP, Coupa, MDG), with strong literacy in IT, Finance, and MDM technologies and solid understanding of the P2P area, especially vendor processes, as well as related operational activities.
  • Strong data governance approach: Deep understanding of the importance of controlled data management and high data quality standards.
  • Business and operating model knowledge: Solid grasp of BAT’s business and data landscape, ideally gained through experience in Finance Shared Services or End Markets.
  • Project and priority management: Demonstrated competence in managing projects, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results under pressure.
  • Outstanding communication and influence: Strong social skills, able to simplify sophisticated data topics and influence collaborators from all levels, including senior leadership able to deconstruct sophisticated data issues and convey them in a business relevant format to key business partners and forums with simple and clear messages, confirmed ability to identify, initiate, and lead resolution of complex data issues across multiple functions.
  • Dedicated and collaborative: outspoken, focused, and proactive, with the ability to work independently while encouraging positive relationships across teams and regions, driven decision maker.

* Please note that this is a temporary role with a contract duration until May 31, 2028.
