British American Tobacco Romania has an exciting opportunity for a Data Steward HR in Bucharest.
This role of HR Data Steward is a meaningful role on ensuring Data Governance is followed and adhered to, reporting directly to Data Governance Lead. The incumbent is encouraged to be self-starter and objectives driven, possesses very good communication skills to engage with collaborators at different seniority levels.
HR processes and data requirements awareness and understanding are core to the success of anyone taking this role. You are encouraged to provide thought leadership and objective evaluation of impacts on data in relation to any proposed process changes. You are a driver of the data governance processes for the HR Data objects ensuring data standards and rules are met and followed.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Define and implement data standards by translating business needs into clear, cross-functional data requirements using the Data Steward process framework.
- Coordinate cross-functional solutions involving subject matter experts, legal, finance, and other partners to address sophisticated data requirements.
- Act as the key intermediary between business functions, IT, standards governance bodies, SMEs, and the MDM organization to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Consult and revise business/project documentation to verify adherence to data standards and identify new or modified standards as needed.
- Ensure project involvement to support data standards adherence, promote governance usage, and contribute to build decisions impacting master data.
- Ensure data quality and compliance by providing business rules, validating data in BAU MDM processes, and supervising adherence to global standards.
- Engage and educate collaborators across all levels to promote the value of master data governance and ensure understanding of compliance requirements.
- Maintain governance infrastructure including repositories, team resources, and blocking issue processes, while supervising compliance and resolving standardization issues
What are we looking for?
- Extensive systems experience: Minimum 5 years working with HR-related systems (e.g., SAP, SuccessFactors), with strong literacy in IT, Finance, and MDM technologies.
- Strong data governance approach: Deep understanding of the importance of controlled data management and high data quality standards.
- Business and operating model knowledge: Solid grasp of BAT’s business and data landscape, ideally gained through experience in Finance Shared Services or End Markets.
- Cross-functional leadership: Proven ability to identify, initiate, and lead resolution of sophisticated data issues across multiple functions.
- Project and priority management: Demonstrated competence in managing projects, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results under pressure.
- Outstanding communication and influence: Strong interpersonal skills, able to simplify complex data topics and influence collaborators from all levels, including senior leadership.
- Analytical and meticulous: Highly numerate, with logical, structured thinking and meticulous attention to detail.
- Dedicated and collaborative: Assertive, focused, and proactive, with the ability to work independently while encouraging positive relationships across teams and regions.
