British American Tobacco Romania has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Treasury Dealer in Bucharest.
The role focuses on managing and delivering treasury operations within the TSC under the guidance of the Dealing Room Manager. It involves conducting financial transactions (money market, FX, and derivatives), supervising liquidity positions, and ensuring efficient cash flow management across the group. The position requires close collaboration with internal and external partners, maintaining strong business relationships, and providing support for treasury execution activities in a dynamic financial markets environment.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Cash Management – To review respective operating companies’ currency bank account balances, analyses and position short term cash flows considering daily and short term forecast positions and Corporate Finance related funding projects. Thereafter, invest, borrow or exchange funds to ensure that the Group’s liquidity is maintained at all times. This will typically involve taking into account security of principal, liquidity, price and respective bank credit positions. This workflow to be handled and completed in accordance with the service level agreements in force between TSC and operating companies.
- Foreign Exchange Management – In conjunction with the relevant Regional Treasurers and acting as the Centre of Treasury excellence operating companies in respect of their own FX hedging programs, to undertake FX hedges on behalf of operating companies, ensuring that the proposed hedges are in line with the Group’s policy and have been fully detailed to maintain compliance with accounting standards.
- In conjunction with the Risk management team to complete strategic hedging programs in respect of group companies profit repatriation to the Centre. The external FX hedges to be undertaken in accordance with pre-determined Group Treasury policy and guidelines. Additionally, to ensure that IAS compliance guidelines have been fully detailed and adhered to.
- Product Evaluation – The increased sophistication of the dealing function – both on the foreign exchange and investment markets demands a high level of skill and understanding of the ever-increasing number of products that are offered by financial institutions. To proactively review and evaluate new financial market products to resolve their applicability to BATIF’s existing suite of trading instruments, taking into account the various risk factors typically inherent in new financial instruments. Typical examples include structured currency options and other derivatives.
- Professional Representation – To continually lead and maintain the Group’s external and TSC’s internal business partner relationships to ensure that BATIF/TSC receives and delivers best practice Treasury service whilst conducting normal day to day Treasury operations. This would typically include representing the Company by holding frequent internal and external business partner meetings to discuss a variety of business related topics. Additionally to continually promote the overall Group treasury vision and strategy encompassing the use of the treasury service center as a provider of in-house banking services.
- Change Management – To continually review and recommend practical alternatives and improvements to current processes. To support and assist organisational change initiatives specifically related to the dealing function inclusive of new systems implementation where applicable. This may include the sole management of projects and/or to ensure that the required projects tasks are completed in a timely fashion to an encouraged standard, as an active member of a larger project team.
- Information Exchange – To provide upon request market based information to TSC participants and other interested parties. This requires the continuous analysis of financial and economic information.
- Management Reporting and analysis – To proactively explore, analyses and recommend alternatives in the content and format of reporting and management information. To be responsible for the maintenance of the current suite of daily and monthly analytical and statistical reports, examples of which include FX performance and league tables in respect of TSC trading turnover.
What are we looking for?
- Solid understanding of Corporate Treasury operations, including FX and interest rate risk management, money market and funding activities.
- Confirmed understanding of financial markets, economic indicators, and their impact on FX and interest rate movements.
- Expertise in money market and FX instruments (spot, forward, swaps, options) and management of short-term investments and CP programs.
- Good knowledge of treasury-related financial and management accounting, with application in reporting and control.
- High adaptability and ability to connect financial market concepts to drive innovation within TSC and the wider BAT Group.
- Excellent communication and partner leadership skills, with confidence in collaborating closely across all organizational levels.
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships; additional language skills are considered an advantage.
- Sophisticated proficiency in treasury systems and tools (SAP, Bloomberg, Reuters, FXall, MS Office), with 3–5 years of treasury experience.
