British American Tobacco Solomon Island has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Coordinator in Honiara
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Integrated Management: Maintain and improve the Integrated Management System (IMS) to ensure best-practice performance in environmental, health, and safety (EHS) across all SITCO sites.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and manage workplace health, safety, and environmental risks to minimize accidents, illness, and fugitive releases.
- Sustainability Driving: Implement and track systems, procedures or initiatives to hit company targets for waste reduction, water conservation, and energy efficiency within both factory operations and office environments.
- EHS Training: Lead appropriate training and awareness activities to coach employees and contractors to nurture a proactive "Safety First" and sustainability-conscious culture.
- Audit & Compliance: Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to ensure 100% compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures within the Security and EH&S Department
- Act as the key point of contact for the EH&S Steering Committee & Technical team and external authorities (Police, Customs, Environment Ministry) to ensure alignment on ESG objectives.
- Support corporate branding and corporate social responsibility by ensuring compliance with British American Tobacco's ESG policy objectives, standards, and guidelines and all applicable national or regional laws and regulations and to contribute to protecting the continuity of supply of products to the market.
What are we looking for?
- Minimum Diploma or Degree in Environmental Science/Heath & Safety/Engineering or a related business-field
- 2 years of experience in driving EHS, sustainability and/or safety initiatives
- Strong understanding of EHS concepts and core sustainability pillars
- Good knowledge of Security procedures, systems and industrial safety procedures
- Familiar with audit processes or ISO standards
- Good communication & stakeholder management skills, with ability to influence behavior across different levels of the organization
- A proactive problem-solver with project management skills
