British American Tobaccohas an exciting opportunity for a ITGC Compliance Manager in Subang Jaya, Malaysia
This role is part of the BAT Digital Business (DBS) Compliance team supporting for IT General Controls. The established Compliance function acts as part of the 1st line of defence and plays a substantial role in ensuring that an appropriate focus is placed on controls, across all functions within DBS.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Embed and maintain IT General Controls (ITGCs) across DBS service lines and processes, supporting the Compliance Manager and Head of Risk, Governance & Compliance in the ongoing development and maintenance of the control framework.
- Analyze compliance and control effectiveness, identifying gaps and remediation opportunities against BAT control frameworks, applicable laws, regulations, internal standards, policies, and procedures.
- Recommend risk and control improvements to DBS management, helping strengthen the overall controls environment and governance framework.
- Support the execution and closure of action plans arising from controls health checks, Internal Risk Issues (IRIs), audits, SOX testing, and other compliance assessments.
- Act as part of the First Line of Defense, contributing to compliance activities and partnering with risk, control, audit, and business stakeholders to implement Group-defined control requirements.
- Provide coordination and communication with collaborators, building positive relationships and ensuring effective engagement with relevant internal and external collaborators.
- Coordinate and supervise team activities (where applicable), ensuring work is delivered professionally, accurately, and within agreed timelines.
- Drive continuous learning and capability development for self and team through training and development opportunities in risk management, internal controls, audit, compliance, and broader business practices.
What are we looking for?
- Qualified IT professional with significant post-qualification/post-graduate experience in the IT industry and a strong understanding of Group functions and IT processes.
- Proven experience in compliance initiatives, including implementing policies, standards, and governance requirements across IT environments.
- Strong controls and risk management expertise, with practical experience in evaluating controls, understanding their impact on risk, and balancing control effectiveness with business costs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of identifying key process risks and designing efficient, effective control measures.
- Strong reporting and documentation capabilities, with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
- Effective collaborator management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior management, business leaders, IT teams, finance, operations, and external consultants.
- Self-motivated and adaptable professional, able to work independently with minimal direction while also collaborating effectively within teams and matrix organizations.
- Experience in IT SOX Controls, IT SOX Compliance, IT Internal/External Audit, and Power BI is preferred and considered a strong advantage.
