The Data Security Engineer is responsible for defining, implementing, and managing data protection practices across the organization. This role collaborates with application teams to classify sensitive information and ensure compliance with data security policies. Leveraging tools such as Microsoft Purview, the engineer enhances data visibility, governance, and protection across both structured and unstructured environments.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Design, build, and maintain data security solutions, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP), information protection, and data posture management.
• Define and enforce data classification and protection standards in alignment with organizational policies.
• Implement and optimize configurations for data security tools to ensure maximum effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot complex data security issues and provide timely resolutions.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to strengthen the organization’s overall security posture.
• Monitor and improve data governance practices to maintain compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.
• Continuously assess and enhance data security strategies to address emerging threats and technologies.

What are we looking for?

• 5+ years of proven experience in data security engineering or related cybersecurity roles.
• Strong knowledge of data protection principles, information governance, and compliance frameworks.
• Familiarity with structured and unstructured data environments
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft Purview, and other DLP or data security solutions.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. 
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams. 
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Microsoft Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate.
• Experience in cloud security and hybrid environments and Knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, SOX, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
