British American Tobacco Serbiahas an exciting opportunity for an Indirect Tax Manager in Vranje
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Take responsibility for indirect tax compliance across VAT, customs, and excise, ensuring all external regulatory obligations are fully met.
- Establish and maintain clear processes, controls, and policies to ensure business operations are conducted in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Oversee tax filings, payments, classifications, and licensing requirements related to VAT, customs, and excise, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency.
- Monitor compliance performance, including reviewing policy implementation and conducting post-filing compliance checks.
- Ensure delivery of all internal indirect tax reporting requirements in line with SOx standards and operational needs, including product destruction and waste reporting in manufacturing facilities.
- Support the Area Head of Customs & Excise Governance in managing tax, customs, and excise audits, liaising with authorities, responding to inquiries, and coordinating with the Corporate Tax team.
- Collaborate with external providers such as customs brokers and logistics partners, while providing guidance on indirect tax matters, legislative changes, new product launches, business initiatives, and delivering relevant tax training.
- Manage and report indirect tax risks, ensure implementation of mandatory group governance requirements, drive continuous process improvements, promote knowledge sharing, and support a responsible and ethical working environment.
What are we looking for
- A relevant degree, along with a professional qualification in tax, accounting, economics or law.
- At least 5 years of similar experience in excise and customs within organisations, or customs and excise authority, or relevant supply chain role.
- Ability to work well with different teams and build effective working relationships.
- Experience managing external partners and ensuring they meet compliance expectations.
- Practical experience with tax audits and handling discussions with authorities.
- Strong knowledge of VAT, customs, and excise rules and how they apply in practice.
- Familiarity with financial systems, including SAP or similar tools.
- Understanding of supply chain or manufacturing environments.
- Solid analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage deadlines and work with data.
- Experience working in an international setting, including cross‑border tax matters and dealing with external stakeholders.
