British American Tobaccohas an exciting opportunity for a HRBP Role in Auckland, New Zealand
Act as the main People partner for the New Zealand market, aligning local initiatives with the global people strategy. Support the full HR cycle, including organizational changes, design projects, and employee relations, to build a high-performing work environment. This role combines both strategic and hands-on execution to drive people initiatives across collaborators, using data insights and expertise in talent policies, processes, and rewards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Drive the NZ People agenda in line with the Global People Strategy, acting as the main HR partner to leaders and supporting day-to-day HR matters.
- Manage employee relations, investigations, and sensitive cases while maintaining compliance with employment laws and providing guidance on HR policies.
- Lead HR operations including onboarding, employee lifecycle processes, organizational changes, and HR system administration (e.g. SuccessFactors).
- Drive talent management by supporting recruitment, talent reviews, role profiling, and the full talent lifecycle, while partnering with line managers to identify and develop high-potential talent through learning and development initiatives.
- Own Headcount and Total Employment Cost reporting submissions in line with the global cycle, and conduct analysis during organizational restructures to support effective workforce planning.
- Improve HR processes by identifying gaps, using data insights, and enhancing employee and line manager experience.
- Support people strategy with leadership, provide workforce and organizational design insights, drive diversity and inclusion, and role model ethical behavior aligned with company values
What are we looking for?
- Minimum 4 years of HR experience across employee relations, talent, or related HR functions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Management, Organizational Development, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Solid knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation, with hands-on experience in investigations, disciplinary actions, reorganisations, and change management.
- Proven experience partnering with multiple stakeholders as a trusted HR advisor across functions and markets (multi-market exposure is a plus).
- Hands-on experience using HR systems (HRIS/HRMS preferred) and managing HR data.
- Proficient in MS Office tools, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Strong planning, execution, and organizational skills, with the ability to use initiative and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong teamwork and problem-solving capabilities.
